Monthly Meetings

Our meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday evening of every month except December, which is reserved for our holiday party.   The meetings are held at the Woodhaven Country Club in Fort Worth's east side, near Interstate 30 and Loop 820.   The meetings usually consist of dinner and a program, both included in the low cost.   Dinner starts at 7:00PM.   Guests are always welcome, and pay member rates on their first visit.

Studio Open House

Don Barnes
The Photographers Studio

I mentioned when I was elected that I wanted to get some studio open houses this year,   Don Barnes stepped forward and offered his studio for the first open house.   Don will open his studio for us to tour and inspect and will be available to answer any questions that we might have about the operations in his studio.   The doors will open at 2:00 on Sunday August 31, 2008 and food will be served around 4:00.   Come and see Don's studio - this will be your last chance.   It seems that someone has made Don an offer for this property that was too good to turn down.   He will be moving sometime in September.   Don's studio is located at 3805 W. University Drive in Denton, Texas 76027.

This is the first open house for this term but it looks like it will be a lot of fun.   Don is currently the President of the TPPA and he has been a professional photographer for more years than he may care to remember.   If your new to the business ask Don a question or two about how things have changed and how to stay in business for a long time - he might have some very useful information.   Remember a studio open house is a lot of fun, but it is also an educational opportunity.   Don is looking forward to seeing all of us at his place for one last time - LET'S NOT DISAPPOINT HIM!

Edward Holmberg

Edward and his wife Francine have operated a home based studio since 1986.   Specializing in weddings, events and portraits at first. Joined Dallas PPA soon after and was awarded photographer of the year in 1992, 93 and 95.   He earned his PPA Master Degree in 1998.   Edward was honored with Dallas PPA Life Member Award in 2006.   Your September program will focus on:

• Finding the Money: start with what you have and work up a cash flow with bread and butter assignments that repeat every year.
• Stay fresh through print competitions
• Always keep an eye on your cheese; where is it moving?
