The MPP Fellowship Program was designed as a means of rewarding those individuals who have given freely of their time and talents in service to their fellow members. It also serves as encouragement for members who have always volunteered in the past and for them to continue to do so. The Fellowship Degree is earned in two phases, with each part requiring the member to earn fifty points, for a total of one hundred points. It is the member's responsibility to claim their allowed points by submitting a fellowship point request form to the Vice-President of Studio Projects in a timely manner. The deadline for collecting points will be May 31st for the preceding fiscal year. Points earned after May 31st will be applied to the following twelve months. Fellowship degrees will be awarded during the installation of officers at the June General Membership Meeting.
Points are earned by participating in the normal operation of the Guild. A member receives points for continuing membership in the MPP, TPPA and PPA, by achieving a degree or certification from the PPA, or a Fellowship from the TPPA. Points are given for attendance at PPA sponsored seminars, and conventions, for serving on committees or the board of directors for the MPP, TPPA or PPA. Members will receive points for articles or cover photos published in the Lens. Print competition points (not required for the Associate Fellowship Degree) are awarded at ½ point per entry and 1 point per ribbon earned. It is the responsibility of the members to submit a MPP Fellowship Request Form each fiscal year. A printable PDF form is available here.
The Associate Fellowship will be awarded to a member after earning 50 achievement points through participation on committees, attending seminars, and helping with various programs. The Associate Fellowship does not require that any of these 50 points be for photographic print competitions or that an individual be active in the actual photographic process. This makes it possible for all MPP members to participate in the fellowship program. This would include photographer's spouses and dues paying staff associates. The only prerequisite is one's willingness to serve.
The second part of the degree is the Full Fellowship Degree. This is designed for the active member involved in the total photographic effort. The requirement for this degree includes earning an additional 50 points for a total of 100 points. A minimum of twenty (20) of these points must be earned through participation in the monthly print competition. Any additional points earned by winning in the monthly print competition become a part of the twenty points necessary to complete the Full Fellowship Degree.
